Had the hot turkey sandwich with fries. The turkey was real turkey which was good gravy wasn't bad. Also had the veal cutlet parmesan. My only issue is it said it was veal cutlet but it was ground veal and wasn't expecting it. Good thing my wife grew up on it she liked it. Dump fries were pretty good as well just needed some salt and pepper. Probably go back and try something else at some point
Love this place for breakfast! I got a sausage and bacon omelette with American cheese, home fries and Italian toast and never had any issue with food or service! You definitely get your money's worth! Big pieces of bacon and sausage in the omelette, home fries done to perfection and toast is perfectly toasted! If you leave this place hungry, it's your own fault!
Stopped for breakfast at the recommendation of a friend. Pleasant experience, comfortable atmosphere, excellent food and exceptional service. Our waitress was Carol, she was attentive, pleasant and very helpful. She seemed to enjoy her job and take pride in her work (something that is rare these days) Thank you, we will be back!
RT. 51 South Hills, Pixburgh Diner experience you crave? This is for you. Good Food, Good Service in an iconic venue. The Chef has been there a long time and takes pride in what he serves and you can taste it. Check hours before you go Breakfast/Lunch and drive thru lottery around back. Pick your numbers while you enjoy a hot breakfast. Dats how ya do it and nat. Good Luck.
Shout out to the 2 guys in the kitchen!
I deliver them raw product and they return it perfectly!! 🥓🔥🔥!!
great food everytime.. check them out!!
Really quick and convenient. Servers are great and the food is pretty good. It's a small place and fills up fast. Great coffee. Very friendly atmosphere. Good senior (55+) menu
Delicious breakfast! Usually breakfast spots salt way too much. Not here. Eggs were perfect and the home fries were the best. Minimal amount of butter to get crisp. New remodel looks really nice. Staff was amazingly pleasant. Very reasonable prices.
I pass this little spot a ton on 51. As a result, I have had a lot of opportunities to stop here, but never have. I'm either never going the right way, not looking to sit down and eat, or a number of factors. Today though, when I walked out of the gym, I knew I was going to stop and eat before work, and I figured I'd give it a try.
I was happy that I did!
It's a cozy little space. Things were clean, people happy, and everything well settled in. I was served up my drink pretty quick, along with a menu. It's a very straight forward fare. Breakfast has your expected items, with some variety, but nothing that transcends the continental breakfast and its various additions in the form of pancakes, french toast, and waffles.
They are open all day, but seeing as how I stopped in for breakfast, I figured I'd try the lot of French Toast, Pancakes, and half of a waffle. It was a lot of food! I ended up bringing a pancake home, and leaving mighty stuffed. Everything was good. My preference ended up being towards the pancakes and french toast. The pancakes are big, and fluffy. The French Toasts are crisp on the outside and bready inside. The waffles are good, but a little underwhelming.
All of this came out to about $20. They definitely keep prices down. They have some options that look like you might be able to swing breakfast for under $5.
So, for the food, if it's up your alley, and its on your route, I'd say go for it.
My only two points and potential negatives are this:
1. Parking and pulling in are rough. 51 is busy, so you gotta' approach it from the right side, or it's gonna' be a wait, with some potentially mad people waiting on you. On this note, avoid parking near 51 if it's raining. Walked out to my car and got thoroughly splashed by a car speeding by. Not the owner's fault, it's 51.
2: This place is very laid back, and th eservice is excellent. Having said that, the pace matches. I could have probably been out in half the time if service was a bit faster, but that wasn't a concern for me. It could easily be a concern for others. So, I'd say, avoid stopping in if you're trying to get out in under an hour. Just to be safe.
